Building door frame

Hello, I have a little alcove that i want to put a door on, but there is no stud work there at the moment. How easy is it to build a door frame? and plasterboard the rest of it over? And what size wood do i use?

Im a competent Diy'er but just need to know what to be getting on with!

Tahnks in advance.

Richard

How big is the alcove (dimensions please!)? Do you want to put the door flush with the wall? Are you talking about putting a partition wall across the alcove and then putting a door in that partition wall?

    3x2 timber for the studs.
the door opening is the door size plus the frame size, plus 6mm clearance. (top and side).
    Get some gorm.

measure alcove & come back then can tell you exactly what you can fit in. timber will be PSE finishing at 32mm thick. But you can use a rebated frame depending on size of appature
