I want a glass, wall mounted, concealed fitting soap dish for the shower. There are loads around, but they are all solid-ie no hole to let the water out of them,so the soap will sit in water and go all soggy! Can anyone give me a ballpark figure for new central heating?
Hi, if anyone could give me any advise I'd be grateful. My DH and I have decided that it's time to overhaul our dilapidated heating system. We live in an old terrace with a kitchen/ downstairs bathroom extension, we're also on a shared water feed which means water pressure can be abysmal at certain times of the day. We…

Opening upvc windows
Dear all, I've just had some new windows fitted but have discovered that while they open and fix at the closed level, and then slightly open (about half an inch), I can't leave and fix them open any wider than that. Unlike the old wooden ones they've replaced which allowed me to open and fix them at varying opening widths…

sealing a bath
I'm redoing the sealant around the bath, on 2 sides theres a 3mm gap above the bath to the tiles, but on one short edge, its 8mm. Is 8mm's too big a gap for silicone sealant? It had those long plastic edging strips on it before, but I dont like them much.

Bath Panel
Hi All, We have bought a steel bath and were originally planning on creating an MDF bath panel and tiling it using our wall tiles. We really dont want a plasticy looking bath panel. Just wondering what bath panels you have? If they are tiled, how is it done to ensure the wall tile pattern flows to the bath panel?

Edging existing tiles around a serving hatch
We moved into our house 6 months ago and are in the middle of redecorating. One of our problems is the serving hatch between the kitchen and dining room. We don't want to get rid of the hatch yet as it's a 70s house (so looks very much part of the house) and the serving hatch is really handy with a toddler - keeps him out…

best retro fridge
I'd be interested in opinions on retro free-standing larder fridges. I've ruled out Smeg as an expensive disaster area to avoid (the overwhelming opinion seems to be a load of rubbish in an expensive overcoat) but would be interested in any information regarding Lec, Baumatic, Gorenje and any others.Your thoughts greatly…

Need something to stop door slamming
Hi, we are getting a couple of panes of glass put into an internal door shortly to let more light into our hall. My worry is that this door is one that is often slammed, and I'm concerned that the glass panes will break unless we do something to prevent this. I thought of either a soft close mechanism, or something soft…

I have recently had a new kitchen installed. The cooker is different to the one listed in the Sales Agreement. As is the Dishwasher. The difference in price is around £1,000 for the range cooker between the model that was detailed in the agreement and the one now in my kitchen. I have written to the company and they have…

I have fitted an overbed unit in my spare bedroom. The unit comes with 2 25W lights that fit under a shelf. Therefore, I want to fit a remote switch at the side of the bed, but…
