Kitchen Flooring
Looking to get a new floor for the kitchen, have tiles currently but a few have got smashed and when replaced sink. Have seen granite floor tiles @ £20 per sq metre, not to sure if they will be repairable once cracked. What is the best type of flooring for a kitchen that's waterproof?

OMG... Arsey neighbour and sattelite dish on party (?) wall....
Hi folks, I live in a terrace house and we are having sky installed today. I didn't want the dish installing on the front of the house as it looks unsightly so asked him to install it on the back of the house. This couldn't be done as he didn't have the right bracket (even though next door had theirs that way with the…

Homebuyers survey action points - is this costly? necessary?
We've just had a homebuyers done on a property (we're FTB). It's come back with a few action points that I'm not sure quite how serious they are/if they're just "to be expected". 1. The damp course is too low to the side of the house and in the conservatory and we need to lower external ground levels (this would include…

Which is my fence?
I know this has probably been done to death but i'm keen to find out who owns the fence at the bottom of my garden. This fence is the left hand side fence looking from the back of the house behind mine? ie. my back fence their left fence. I've seen that this issue can be quite complicated, the posts for the fence are…

Flat roof flashing
Our extension flat roof is felt covered and the join with the main house wall was done by continuing the felt up the wall. This has now come away, forming a funnel that channels water into the wall. I'm hoping to fix this but I'm a little confused by the range of tapes, rubber solutions, paints and primers on offer. The…

How to empty a 12ft pool?
I purchased a bestway 12ft pool off the internet for my daughter's birthday. We filled it a few weeks ago but have just returned from a 2 week holiday and pool is green/black. I need to empty the pool to clean the sides etc, it does have a drainage hole but if I use this the garden will be flooded. I tried to cyphon off…

Shower Room WS-907
Hi, My friend has a steam shower room WS-907, made by ALIF Ltd which has now gone out of business. The shower has a leak and parts are impossible to find and the labour cost would be significant therefore my friend would like to replace the entire unit with a simpler shower. The WS-907 is a top of the range unit with all…

Instantaneous Multi Point Water Heater
Hello all and good day. I have a thermal direct immersion heater which is less than 5 years old. We just bought the flat last year and everything seems fine until recently where it started cracking! UPVC Rehau/SwiftFrames/Eurocell/Duraflex?
What frames would be best to replace wood sash windows fitted in a year 2007 terrace house? (want windows replaced as next row of terraces being built all have upvc top hung open out windows. The new builder challenged the planning requirement to have wood - and he paid the £85 to have the condition removed). These wood…

Advice please - depth of Gas Fire?
I want to replace my old free-standing gas fire for a built-in one. I have a marble surround and hearth, but a horrible fire installed by the builders. Also have a pre-fabricated flu, but don't know what depth fire it will take. I think it needs a slimline, but they vary from the slimmest at 78mm to 130 mm. I want the…

Does this make sense to anybody? Just got building survey's report. This is a newly refitted kitchen. I do not understand that bit about floor timbers, I thought the foundation should be in concrete first and then timber. The kitchen has been tiled how can the surveyor said it is timber floors. I will need to ask him to…

Wood for chimneas
I have a load of treated wood left over from a build and with summer coming (probably already here), i have seen some chimnea type items that also double up to cook from. I know you can't use treated wood on an open fire indoors because of the fumes, but you can use them in a wood burner. Do you think it would be safe to…

New Freeview Box

Can anyone recommend a plumber?
I hope I've put this in the right section-it can be confusing sometimes! We need someone to come and do some minor plumbing work in our bathroom, but would rather have someone recommended, instead of picking a random company from a phone book. We've asked the neighbours and they can't recommend anyone, so was hoping…
