Instantaneous Multi Point Water Heater

Hello all and good day.

I have a thermal direct immersion heater which is less than 5 years old. We just bought the flat last year and everything seems fine until recently where it started cracking! Does anyone know whether this might be covered under anykind or warranty or whatsoever?

And thinking about replacement, I would like to have something like a standard electric water heater. Google it a bit and found that it's called Instantaneous multipoint water heater. Does anyone has any experience in this type of heater. If yes, how much roughly will it cost to install?

I don't have gas supplied in my flat.

Many thanks in advance.

WONG.

What do you mean by 'cracking'? Do you mean it is leaking? or do you just mean the insulation on it is cracking?
A multipoint heater is not the same thing as an immersion heater, it will not give you stored hot water

Thanks MacMan. Yup.. it started leaking at the top of the boiler.

The reason why I don't like the current "stored" hot water is because I find it not energy efficient to boil the whole tank just for 1 or 2 showers a day. And because the tank is not efficient, I have to boil it everyday or else I don't have enough hot water for the next day especially during winter.

So hopefully with the instantaneous multi point water heater, I can get hot water as and when I need ;)

Do you know whether I can just change the boiler without having to do any other piping, electrical, etc/...?

    Cheers

An immersion heater is not a boiler. If the thermostat is working properly, and the tank is properly insulated, it should be reasonably efficient. You won't get the same flow rate on a multipoint remember, and the flow rate will be reduced in winter as the incoming supply is colder.
Both plumbing and electrical work is required to change to a multipoint, it's not just a straight swap.
