How to empty a 12ft pool?

Options
I purchased a bestway 12ft pool off the internet for my daughter's birthday. We filled it a few weeks ago but have just returned from a 2 week holiday and pool is green/black. I need to empty the pool to clean the sides etc, it does have a drainage hole but if I use this the garden will be flooded. I tried to cyphon off the water with a hose, I got the water flowing on ?Tuesday night from the pool, along the hose to my drain. Yesterday it had only gone down about 7in and Ive just checked now and it has stpped. The drain is a good distance from the pool and the hose is at full stretch so I guess the distance is too long for cyphoning to work. Does anyone have any ideas that won't be too expensive? I could run the pump with the pool but the water is so murcky I doubt that would do anything. I need the water out to start again and add chlorine this time (thought I'd save money by not buying any).
Thanks.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

Use a small garden pump maybe? As long as there is a fall between pool level and drain, siphoning should still work, if the clag doesn't block the hose. You could skim off the worst of it first.
What made you think you could use it with just water? Adding chlorine alone will not solve the problem-what filtration does it have?

Most hire shops have small pumps for about £10 for the day that should speed it up no end.

A run-of-the-mill submersible pump should empty it in an hour or so. I'm not sure where you can hire one for £10 though, everywhere I've looked is more expensive than buying one from Argos.

In theory the siphon should work if there's enough of a head.
