Does anyone have any idea if the pool heaters you can buy are actually any good, as we have a 15ft pool and the kids are moaning it's cold. {put my hands in and it is ) i have seen 5kw advertised but don't really know if they will work can't afford to waste money i have alredy got a solar sheet we leave on but doesn't really work. Any thoughts or advice. Thanks

Like everything to do with pools, you get what you pay for.
5kw would probably be overkill for a 15ft pool.
You would be ok with a 3kw heater but you need to check if your pump is powerful enough otherwise you're possibly wasting your money.0 -
Maybe consider groundsource heatpump, expensive installation but cheaper running costs. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

Heating water is very expensive and is very hard to do as the water is a good conductor of heat, cooling the water very well. Gas heater or fed from hot tap?0

Just finished building a solar heater for around £100 materials. Raises the water temp around 6 deg C when combined with a solar cover. This is on a 15' metal wall above ground pool.
You can find the plans on ebay for around £5.
Took a couple of weekends to build but when I turned it on and felt hot water coming out the return feed I was grinning from ear to ear.0 -
We had a 3kw heater for a 10ft pool. To raise the temperature from about 21 degrees to 28 degrees probably took about 8 hours. So 3 kw for 8 hours can get very expensive!.....0
