Using a convector converstion kit on a standard radiator

Hi all,
Just had a plumber round and he has replaced two radiators in our upstairs bedrooms. Both radiators are single panel ones which we bought from Wickes along with the kits to convert them to convector radiators ( It adds sides on a grill on top). However the plumber has put the radiators on with the rounded edge up so these kits will not fit on.
My question is are these kits worth putting on and should i get him back to drain system again and turn them round again so i can fit these kits or should i just take the kits back to wickes? Do the kits make a difference?
Thanks
