Airbricks/ventelation in a fireplace.
I'm in the process of renovating a house; in the one room downstairs I'm intended to replace a badly damaged fireplace with a gas fire and in the other room to repair the open fire (which will then be used). In the rooms above there are two boarded up fireplaces, I'm intending to put a 'decorative' fireplace in one room…

Fitting a dual fuel cooker
Who can fit a dual fuel cooker? We have a power supply for an electric oven in the kitchen but it's on a fuse switch not a normal plug. We currently have a gas oven so there is a gas supply. As the new PartP regs say you can't do electrics in your own kitchen anymore, who can actually install the dual fuel cooker?

Is this a job for only a plumber, or someone who knows DIY?
Hi all, We've been in our new house for 6 months, and the main bathroom has a bath and a separate shower. The shower has a mixer. The shower was working fine as I had my parents staying just before we got an airlock in the plumbing from overrunning the kids bath. It cost an arm and a leg to get a plumber to fix. (He at…

Good evening / morning all! My DP and I are wanting to redecorate our bedroom. It is currently the same as it was when he moved in nearly three years ago, with the exception of his kingsize bed taking up most of the room! There are non-matching fitted wardrobes down two sides of the room, a large bay window on another and…

Gravity Hot Water Problem - SF Rayburn
Hi all, We have just installed a second hand 355SFW Rayburn which we fire solely on wood. (Hubby a tree-surgeon). We are having problems as we've also got a backup oil boiler which we've spliced into the system. New extractor lets the cold in
I got an extractor put in my bathroom so I could secondary glaze the window during the window (thus the window no longer opens) and still remove steam to prevent condensation / mould However it isn't keeping the bathroom warm as loads of cold air comes in through the extractor when it is not running. There is one of those…

Halogen Cookers
I saw an advert in Radio Times as well as in various Sunday papers for a small halogen cooker that self-cleans and sits on the work surface - cost about £39.99 (JML do them for £49.99). I wondered if they were any good and were they worth the money? I live on my own and although I have an electric cooker it hardly seems…

Mouldy Carpet - Please Help!
We've been gone for a week over Christmas, and the windows haven't been opened. The bedroom window tends to have a lot of condensation, and today there's a patch of lightish coloured mould on the carpet beneath the window. Unfortunately two pairs of my shoes were also in that area, but since one pair doesn't fit and the…
