Best places for bedroom furniture?

Good evening / morning all!
My DP and I are wanting to redecorate our bedroom. It is currently the same as it was when he moved in nearly three years ago, with the exception of his kingsize bed taking up most of the room! There are non-matching fitted wardrobes down two sides of the room, a large bay window on another and the radiator on the other. I - *ahem* of course I mean WE! - want to rip out all of the wardrobes, the carpet and all of the wallpaper and start again.
Please can anyone suggest places to look for cheap quality wardrobes? Don't mind if they are readymade or flatpack but would prefer freestanding so that we can take them on to another house (intend to move by mid-2009).
The bed is lovely so is staying, but it presents it's own problem in finding suitably matching items! It's wooden, oak-ish (tho' not made from oak!) in colour. I was thinking white wardrobes maybe..

Ikea perhaps? That gum you like is coming back in style.0

I'll second Ikea. You can buy 500mm wide wardrobes and bolt them together. When you come to move, remove the bolts and find that little wardrobes are easier to handle than full size ones.0

Thanks
Will trot over their website and check out the sale...
Any more suggestions?0 -
A charity shop perhaps? Heart Foundation shops usually have some antique ones in that are relatively cheap.0

Personnally I cant stand Ikea, and I doubt that they will withstand been taken down and rebuilt (or moved as a whole unit).
Do you know anyone with a makro card? they've got some fairly cheap (in price) oak style wardrobes.0 -
the large asda and BQ stores both sell very cheap furniture. good value for flatpack. same quality as others but far cheaper in some cases.
would never recommend any flatpack to be removed to another house though.Get some gorm.0 -
i quite like the paxa and hopen wardrobes but they are 236 cm while i can possibly go up to 205cm in my house

they do 2 heights, http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/S99841998 is one example of what you can get. we have some pax that have been taken down 3 times and are still as good as new'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0 -
Another vote for Ikea, we have Malm Drawers in 2 of our bedrooms and they are really good and solid.
Daughter has a Pax wardrobe and it's great you can get so much stuff in it.
I would avoid MFI, we have MFI furniture in my son's room and it's c***.;)0 -
Was well impressed with what you can make from the IKEA stuff, when we looked, last week!
Otherwise are Focus clearing their stuff yet, if they're closing the store near you?
