Too cold for outside painting?
Need to paint the rendering/ cement around where the new windows have been fitted. (north facing wall). Someone said that you can't paint in the cold whether as the paint will crack or bubble. Is this true? Hope not, because I can't bear to leave it like it is all winter.

Electrical advice urgently needed!!!
Hello We have just plumbed in our electric shower and it is now ready for the electrics to be done. We have received a quote of a friend who is a retired electrician we are happy with. However, instead of fitting a new fuse box (old one does not have room for the shower), he said he can fit a rcd switch onto the box to…

Work on house... one generalist or several specialists?
Hello, I originally posted this on the local section but I wonder if anyone can help, particularly with the logistics of carrying out several "small" pieces of work that are all a bit beyond my DIY skills! The bit I've put in bold is the bit I am most interested in at the moment. I've left the rest in for background :) We…

anybody got any comments - good or bad! our dyson 01 is on its last legs but had it about 7-8 years - we've since rehomed a spaniel so I wondered if any of these 'pet' cleaners are worth paying extra for - the 07 is down to £169 in Argos thank you

Dishwasher newbie
I've just moved to a bigger house and for the first time I have a dishwasher. Hooray - no more washing dishes! :D However, I had a bit of a shock when I saw the price of Dishwasher tablets. The tablets recommended by the manufacturer (Bosch) are Finish 5 in 1 powerball which seem quite pricey. So, are there any cheaper…

I am trying to decide which plumber to use now I've had 3 plumbers come to my house to quote for a whole new wet central heating system. laying laminate - whats he doing wrong?
We bought a load of laminate last year from focus when it was half price. We fitted some in our last house and some was OK but we found some places just wouldnt click together and stay put, leaving unsightly gaps. Its the sort where there is an overlapping joint that clicks into place. My DH has just laid the remainder in…

Ugly bath!
Our bath obviously had a very dodgy grouting job done on it and the edges where it meets the tiles now have a nasty mouldy/orangey brown stain to them. Is there a way to clean the remaining grout away and clean up the bath on the (bog standard white plastic-y) bath? Any help appreciated!

Are there any underfloor heating systems that don't require excavation ?
I want to install underfloor heating. Currently have a concrete floor. The height of the rooms is ok but not great - I can't afford to lose any height. I've been told the only way to install undefloor heating without losing height is to 'dig out' the floor to accomodate it - that'll cost too much. So are there any systems…
