Anyone ever bought B&Q credit notes off ebay?

Options
Hi
Just wondering if anyone has ever bought a B&Q credit note off ebay? If so, did you buy several and take them to your local B&Q, were they fine? Does the cashier question them? Thinking of buying some as you can save some money off a big purchase, so just wanted anyones information about them etc.
Thanks

I think I read a post a while back about bogus vouchers, I'd be careful.
  • i bought one a few days ago worth 535 pounds. there legit and fully work. no questionning aswell because there anonymous. i bought a new kitchen for a house im renting out and saved a packet because of the current offers aswell.

people on this board are scared because your paying for a peice of paper at the end of the day. they shouldnt be they all work. remember to pay on your credit card through paypal for extra protection.

the reason people sell credit vouchers on ebay is because they get them through a trade account, not because they are scammed.

check my user id rsinghrai1987 for proof ive left the other guy good feedback for it.
  • Some will be ok and some will be scammers.

Id be choosy as to who i bought things like this from - Buyer beware i'd say

like owt else on ebay check the FB carefully.
if they registered last month and have a FB of say 10, then beware.
if they have been on ebay for say 2 yrs and have a 200 FB then its prob very safe.

This sort of thing is a potential tax dodge, and the buyer may be an unwitting accessory in money laundering.

Builder buys materials from B&Q at £1000 and offsets them against a job. However he may use materials he's already got, so he won't need said materials.

He takes them back and says he's lost the receipt. They agree to take them back and he accepts a credit note for £1000.

Now if he actually got a refund and no receipt, he would not be able to claim the costs against tax. However if he doesn't produce the receipt but still has it then he can.

So what does he do with the credit note. He puts it on e bay and gets near face value for it, say £900.

So he makes a loss of £100 on a £1000 credit note but because he still has the £1000 receipt, he can then put it against that job he didn't need the materials for and claim. If he is paying 40% tax he pockets an extra £400.

Hence he makes a net profit from tax evasion of £300.

  • a lot of people that shoplift then go back into b&q and get a refund in the shape of a credit voucher which they then sell i would check to see what else they sell if they only sell credit vouchers then i would think it was a bit dodgy.
  • B&Q have brought out new rules regarding credit notes in order to reduce fraud. Therefore now anyone who is issued a credit note for over £50 will have to have their details recorded, in order to spend the credit note you have to prove that you are the person it was issued to- no proof, no sale. Don't buy any credit notes issued after 8/9/07 if they are over £50 (and in some cases under £50 as well) unless you share the same details as the person it was issued to in the first place!
