Too cold for outside painting?

Options
Need to paint the rendering/ cement around where the new windows have been fitted. (north facing wall). Someone said that you can't paint in the cold whether as the paint will crack or bubble. Is this true? Hope not, because I can't bear to leave it like it is all winter.

  • 'Fraid so. The paint manufacturer will usually have some sort of guidance leaflet or it will be on the tin. It's quite common that the paint won't work properly for some reason at low temperatures, about 5C or lower comes to mind.

If its very cold less than 10c probably best wait until a better day, its still Sept so we bound to still have some good days left before Winter even Oct can be sometime good.

Actually even on very hot days paint can blister or dry to quickly

modern paints such as dulux exterior acrylic can be applied at above 35 degrees f. and the temp must not fall below 35f for 24 hrs.
must not let any rain or snow onto the job for 24 hrs.

so basically this month is your last chance. mind you with all the funny weather weve had over the last few yrs, owt can happen.
    Get some gorm.
  • If you use a Pliolite based masonry paint you'll be ok
