We've got one of the sensor security lamps in the back garden. However Saturday night before I went to bed, I noticed that it hadn't gone off which isn't right as it only comes on for a few seconds, plus it wasn't windy outside (enough to trigger it off). Anyway, It was midnight and I got a ladder to see if it had a manual…

As it's warmed up now, a couple of weeks ago I set the central heating controller so that the heating no longer comes on, but the Hot water does. There are various settings for these: OFF / ONCE / TWICE / CONTINUOUS. So the hot water is set to TWICE, but the heating is OFF. But my radiators are still coming on! How can…

Boiler flame not igniting all the time.
Trying to help out my sister who has a Glow-Worm Micron 70FF Boiler, which at present seems to have a mind of its own by turning on when it wishes. The power lights are on and even performed some manual diagnostic investigation, and it seems the problem stems from the boiler. I’ve also read somewhere that those Glow worms…

I've just tiled my bathroom floor, and it's looking quite good (even though I do say so myself ;) ). However, I'm not quite finished, as for the life of me I can't cut out a bit of a tile to fit round the radiator pipe, which means I've got a nicetiled floor with a tile missing  I've tried 1. a ceramic blade on a…

Is it possible to instal an Extractor Fan in a Double Glazed Window?
Hi Guys, Anyone know how to instal an extractor fan in a kitchen window that is double glazed? Someone told us the other day you just need a window cutter, but I thought double glazed windows were sealed and surely doing that would then give us other kinds of problems? I read a DIY book yesterday in a local bookshop and it…

Quick wash on a Zanussi 1000?
ANYONE got any ideas here? Being a bit of an ecofreak, I do all my washes on a quick wash, economy rinse. Or try to. We recently bought a new washing machine for the house only for my partner to lose the instruction manual as we were packing up stuff for the loft. We do have a quick wash button, but when we press it, the…
