Stopping Washing Machine from moving

I am about to have my washing machine moved into my new utility room, yippee!!!
What I am after is solutions to stop it moving while it is in operation.
My carpenter is going to build wall to ceiling cupboards and leaving a gap for the washing machine to fit in, obviously the wall to ceiling cupboards are going to hold a lot of stuff and I would like to minimise the risk of them moving in the cupboards through the vibration.
Thanks

Hubby was getting very annoyed at our w/m moving all the time and making a racket when it's on spin so he cut some pipe insulation in half and has wedged it either side of it and low and behold quiet and doesn't move!!

Buy a decent washing machine, is that not the best option.
Not too clued up on all ranges of machines but we had a hotpoint (which moved) go bang, ended up getting a Bosch which weighed much more and it doesn't seem to move at all, a lot quieter too0 -
I have a Bosch 5 years old and it still moves, although mainly vibrates!!!
I like the idea of insulation, I'll ask my builder to sort it!0 -
Yup. As OK sauce says make sure it's perfectly levelled and that all the feet are screwed down to make contact with the floor.0

Most common cause is the feet not being correctly adjusted and the machine being loaded incorrectly.0

Washing machines vibrate because the clothes in the drum are an eccentric rotating weight. There are two methods of reducing the vibration:
1)Dampers - There are shock-absorbers fitted to the drum plus you can site the machine on an energy absorbing surface such as a rubber coaster.
2)Mass - Washing machines normally contain added weigh in the base to help prevent movement. You could increase the ballast but would have to ensure it was evenly distributed between the right and left of the machine.0
