Hiya
A couple of weeks ago my builder finally came around and sealed up the hole in the eaves where some squirrels were getting in. I told him to make loud noises first then get off his ladder wait for about five to ten minutes and then to get on with the work, to allow the squirrels time to get out. I think the pillock didn't bother and now after two days of hot weather there is an awful smell in the bedrooms upstairs. As we had the loft converted any dead squirrel will be between the ceiling on the first and the floor on second floors. Therefore we can't get to it. Does anyone know how long it takes for a squirrel to decompose and for the smell to go? Any hints on how to get rid of the smell? Thanks!

Not sure how long before the smell goes away, but you might start getting more maggots and flies soon, unless you get someone to remove the carcass soon.Wha's like us - damn few, an' they're a' deid

I had a dead rat somewhere in lining of my walls - the smell lasted for about 3 to 4 weeks and intense it was too!"Those who try to make sense of the world are divided into four categories: scientists, theologians, philosophers, and fools. We had a dead rat under the floorboards a few years ago, and my parents called in someone the council recommended, who just put down "rodent deodorant" which didn't do much!Murphy's No More Pies Club #209
