steel/aluminium kitchen plinths
We pulled our yucky old wood plinths off the bottom of our kitchen cupboards to put some new flooring down, and now want to replace them with some shiny brushed steel or aluminium ones. B&Q and Ikea only have metal 'coloured' plinths that look plasticky, does anyone know if you can even get proper metal ones? Any ideas…

Linked smoke alarms - anyone done this?
Hi guys My OH has a large house with 2 silly smoke alarms. If we were in bed and the one next to the kitchen went off we'd never hear it, only the one at the bottom of the stairs, which is of course the only escape route, so we'd probably be BBQ'd by the time we heard anything. I read the other day that there are smoke…

Ikea size mattress base
I am interested in buying one of Ikea's foam mattresses as they seem to be good value for money and are slightly bigger than UK size, however they do not have a mattress base that I like (you cannot fit headboards to Ikea's bases and they dont have drawers). Basically I am looking for a standard divan base (with drawers)…

Confused about tumble dryers!
Hi. My (very) old tumble dryer has packed in and I need to get another one. I've seen a Kenwood condenser dryer in Currys, model no. KCD1W, which I can get for £208 including delivery. It's a 'c' rated model. However I've also caught sight of an AEG, model no. T59800, but it costs a whopping £454. In it's favour is the…
