Jamie Oliver anodised pans

Hi All

I've just bought a complete set of Jamie Oliver Anodised Pans - not cheap but I hoped that they'd last me for a good many years. They are the ones with a Matt Charcoal coloured exterior and seem good and sturdy.

However after using a saucepan only a couple of times the exterior is all marked - run marks from a tomato sauce I made and grease spots that hit it from a frying pan on the cooker at the same time. Try as I might I can't get rid of them. I don't want to scrub too hard in case I make it worse. The exterior coating just seems to absorb everything. They certainly aren't going to look good after a very short while.

Has anyone else had any experience with these pans and had the same problem? Luckily I haven't unpacked the rest of the set so I think they'll be going back. Don't know if I'll be able to return the used one though as it isn't strictly a manufacturing fault is it? Have contacted the manufacturer (Tefal) but haven't heard back from them yet. Just wondered if anyone else is in the same boat

Regards
Paulac

You just made me go and scrub my pan! I was given the stir fry pan for Christmas and, as luck would have it, it was used this evening and is dirty :)

It had sauce down the side and as I'm not precious over these things, I've given it a good hard scrub with a scourer and the sauce has come off. Admittedly, but only if you hold it up to light and look carefully, there's a sort of sheen where the sauce was, but the scrubbing has not made one bit of difference to the outside of the pan itself, it looks exactly the same.

I think it's a great pan, but if you're thinking of taking the whole lot back, there's no harm in giving that one a good scrub is there?

Most of my pans are Prestige stainless steel and they are still fantastic after 6 years. They're not coated with anything but the bottom parts have changed colour to a sort of rainbow effect from the heat. The frying pan died, but I have Jamie now!
