Hi, looking for some advice on deemed tariffs please. I have just moved into a house supplied by EDF and have been put on a deemed tariff. I have been told by EDF that it is variable and not price capped. Does anyone know if this is true? I’m trying to decide whether to stay on deemed or move to another tariff or supplier.…

Just got my new Octopus tariff
I'm one of those Avro customers who was moved to Octopus last year. Octopus sent me an email yesterday with the new rates. I've plugged these into my spreadsheet which uses historical yearly typical Kwh usage for gas and electricity. It shows that my costs will rise by 54.3% on 2nd April. Phew! I can post the actual tariff…

Energy Tax
Hi. I've recently come across some information regarding energy companies and I would like to know if there's any truth in it. Apparently we already pay energy companies, ie national grid, for our energy in our tax and vat. And we only pay these energy companies the money to supply a meter and maintenance and the energy…

Max out old credit meters?
My elderly relative has those old top up meters with British Gas for Gas (Card) Electric (Key). I heard Martin saying you could potentially max them out before April and pay the old rates as long as they are not smart. I started doing this a month ago to help her get the numbers up ready but notice BG started taking the…

Will I qualify for the £150 tax rebate in April?
I'm currently purchasing my first house and will likely exchange end of April beginning of May. Will I be eligible for the £150 tax rebate that households are receiving to help towards the rise in energy costs? It's council tax A. No one lives in the house at present. I called the council and they didn't seem to know.

Should I fill up now or wait?
My oil tank is half full. Normally I’d order another 500ltrs now but they’re charging around £650 (125-135p per litre). I heard something about how prices will be even worse in April and worse again in October. At this rate I simply won’t be able to have any heat or hot water. Would it be best to fill up now or is there…
