Moving home
Hi guys ,
next week I am moving into anew address with my family , currently the property has a pre paid meter . Are we best sticking with that or getting a direct debit set up with a supplier ?? I’m so confused, can my current energy supplier transfer my current deal ?

Welcome to the forum amd congratulations on the new home.speak to your current suplier about transferring your account; some have become less keen on this recently. When you move in, you'll automatically be in a deemed contract with the current supplier to the property, paying their standard variable tariff. Contact them and get them to send you a new key / card / whatever for the meter; do not use the previous tenant's gizmo as it will be tied to their account and you may end up inheriting their debts. If you're lucky it will be a smart meter and you'll be able to switch to a credit account without needing a meter change. If it isn't, you'll have to stay on prepayment until they can get someone out to change the meter.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile.
