Eon Next Fixed Deals Still Available (10/3/22)
Just a quick heads up. Last night I contacted EON NEXT as I was having issues logging into their new site. The initial automated voice recording said their fixed deal (V11 1 year fixed) had now finished, but after waiting inline to speak with a customer service rep to sort out my log in issues I was then offered a couple…

300% monthly price increase
I have received an email today from octopus energy to inform me my DD will be increasing from £92 p/m to £340 p/m. I was referred to octopus as I was with Avro who went bust. Surely a 300% price increase PER MONTH is worrying? Anybody have advice??

Flexible avro october 2021 v1 fixed - stick or switch?
Hi all I'm usually pretty savvy on knowing when/whether to switch or not but I'm a bit confused with this. I've received an email from Octopus with part of it saying: Today, we're introducing a temporary Loyal Octopus support to help customers like you keep your bills as low as possible in this difficult time. The…

No appointments available for Smart Meter installation
Hi All, I'm with Eon next and I've been struggling to get an appointment to get a smart meter installed. I'm in the HP16 / Bucks area and the appointments apparently are looking 4 months into the future (I'm told) but no one from Eon Next can give me a reason as to why there are no appointments and also won't confirm how…

Why are standing charges going up?
I've just received my new list of charges from my energy provider (Shell Energy) now that my fixed tariff is ending. I notice that not only are the fuel charges going up, but so are the standing charges. Surely the standing charges cover the cost of delivery of energy, i.e. poles and wires, gas pipelines etc and not the…

Would it be cheaper to use elecric immersion vs gas now?

I'm currently on Octopus Go for my electric car, meaning I only pay 5p/kwh between 00:30-04:30 My gas rate is now 7.2p/kwh I currently have a solar diverter for my immersion, so when my solar batteries are full it heats the tank of water - fine for the summer. During the…

MSE News: Energy firms confirm new rates under the new price cap
Energy suppliers have now confirmed their new prices under the upcoming 1 April price cap and most – including biggies such as British Gas, E.on and Scottish Power – have hiked their standard tariffs to the maximum allowed under the cap. Octopus is the outlier, pricing an average £50/year under the cap for existing…

How can I leave fix and go on Price Cap?
Hi everyone, I hope someone can help me as I have been a
bit of a numpty ☹ Up until yesterday, I was on the Price Cap. I was looking
for a Fixed deal last weekend and saw a deal which was around £300 above April

the Fixed deal wouldn’t look too…

When do Energy companies have to confirm price increase
I'm with E.On Next have been moved from Octopus on to NextFlex. I have yet to receive an email, letter, notification on my account or info in my bill that the prices are going up on 1st April. I know they will but aren't they under some obligation to formally notify and if they haven't does this mean I can eek out the…

Will it be cheaper to use immersion to heat water now
Hello, I'm not sure if there is a quick answer to this but I was wondering if it would be cheaper to use an immersion heater to heat the water in the tank rather than use the oil boiler? The price of heating oil has shot up in the last couple of weeks and I'm trying to save as much as I can by keeping the heating off but…

New Boiler Scheme is it legit
Hi, I have recently been approached by cold call for a company called 'Boilers Made Simple', after arranging an appointment and a house visit, I am unsure wether to take up their offer. Tariffs from 1st April 22
I've just received details of my tariff from 1st April from Octopus. At present I'm paying £100 per month which is to go up to £257 a month. I thought that it was going to be a price rise of 54%? The price per kWh of electric has doubled and gas has gone up by more than 200%!

End of summer account credits.
Just thinking out loud here... What processes do the individual suppliers have for dealing with "excess" credit? Which ones allow you to reduce your DD, and which make an auto-payment back to you if your credit exceeds £XXX? Are they going to amend their systems to allow bigger credits to build up this year, over summer,…

Hi, I’m new here, so hopefully I’ve done this correctly :# My husband, newborn baby and I have just moved into a new house. A lot of the…

Energy bill almost doubling in April
I'm with shell energy on a fix until 31 March. Currently pay £67 a month. They've told me that I'll be moved to flexible 7 tariff at a prediction of £1483 a year which is approx £123 a month, almost double what I currently pay! Does that sound about right? Also I'm moving house 25 March, should I take Shell with me or just…

Battery storage
If you are fortunate enough to have solar with battery backup, don't forget that at this time with costs rising almost daily, many solar inverters allow you to charge these batteries from the mains supply. If you couple that with an economy 7 or economy 10 price, you could save yourself a fair few quid over the coming…

British Gas Smart Meter.. are they down?
Yesterday had new meters fitted by BG, on the home display the Gas didn’t work, the installer said common with gas and it might need the account to be setup properly and someone will come back to reset it, could take three weeks. Octopus smart meter tariff
I am confused. We had a smart meter fitted 2 weeks ago and I was confused as to why the cost was lower than our last week's usage. I have just discovered that the unit price on the smart meter is vastly lower to our tariff showing on our bill and online account. Anyone else had this?
