Energy bill almost doubling in April

I'm with shell energy on a fix until 31 March. Currently pay £67 a month. They've told me that I'll be moved to flexible 7 tariff at a prediction of £1483 a year which is approx £123 a month, almost double what I currently pay! Does that sound about right?
Also I'm moving house 25 March, should I take Shell with me or just see what provider is at my new property?

As you are moving your first para doesn't matter.
You can't take Shell with you.
You read the meters, take photos at your present house and send to your supplier and then get a final bill
At your new house you contact the existing supplier give readings - you are then their customer - resit any fix offered and stay on the standard tariff.
As you will have read - frightening bills are coming.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -

So if I were to do that (or if for any reason the house move doesn't go through and I stay where I am), considering my first paragraph, does that look right?0 -
@Robin9 has covered the important points. I'll just add that had you stayed at your previous house the predicted change in bills is certainly plausible I'm afraid, so bear this in mind for your new home.
I hope the home move goes smoothly for you.0 -
I sit corrected with a proviso that you can't take the existing fixed tariff with you and there will still be period when you are on the existing suppliers Deemed Tariff.
Shell have told me I can take them with me when I move if I wish.

And from their FAQ's " When you first move in, you'll be on our Fully Flexible tariff but once you’ve created your account, you can choose from any of our available tariffs."Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -
We cross-posted above. The new figure is about right provided the usage figures shown are also about right for you? Presumably they are as you've been on a fix that's about to end.l.c.elliott said:
