EON Next Saying I owe them money...prepayment meter
I moved out of my house back in September 2021 and sent EON Next my final meter readings. They send me a final bill for the gas account but had not sent one for the electric account which was on a prepayment meter.
At the time, the account showed that I had £575 in credit and so I emailed last week asking for the final bill which I had not yet received.
Eon Next replied to me yesterday apologising for the delay in sending a final bill but including the final bill, showing that I in fact owe Eon Next £578.28.
On looking at the bill, Eon Next have not recorded a single payment made since 25th February 2021 and despite being on a prepayment meter (which would not physically function without payment), are saying I owe them.
I have, of course, emailed back disputing the charges but I wondered if anyone else has experienced similar and if so what is the best way to get this resolved?
Thanks in advance.

Did YOU set up your own account and get a new key for yourself or did you use a key that was left by the previous occupier ?

The account was put on prepayment whilst we were living there. It has payments on up to February 2021 but no payments between February and September when we moved out.molerat said:Did YOU set up your own account and get a new key for yourself or did you use a key that was left by the previous occupier ?I’m worried they’re going to come back with ‘prove it’ but with the prepayment shops requiring cash and not having kept 7 months of little receipts, I’m going to struggle.0 -
If the account was in your name and you started with your own key rather than inheriting one from someone else then you should be OK once they figure out where the payments went.gazfocus said:
