Fixed tariff ending, new fixed tariffs already above cap. Am I better to...
My fixed tariff ends this month. My new supplier's new fixed tariff offers are 10p/unit gas and 36p/unit elec. Other online quotes are similar. This is already above the new cap increase going to approx 7p gas and 28p elec in April. Am I therefore better to lapse to their standard tariff which is subject to the cap? Or am…

Calculating energy costs in April
Hello, With the announcement of an approx 54% increase in energy costs. I was wondering if the current assumption of calculating costs is correct. I am currently on a variable rate tariff for combined gas & electricity. (Assume this is a top limit Goverment price cap) To make maths easier, lets say my monthly cost for gas…

Octopus Go tariff.
I am on the Octopus Go tariff. This is a fully renewable electricity supply. My assumption is that my electricity price will not change as no gas powered electricity supplies my home. Thoughts? I also have gas through Octopus variable tariff. I expect this to go up considerably.

Energy supplier sent incorrect final bill £500 too high - and then went bust!
So I'm in a bit of a spot, I am. I was with an energy supplier for a couple of years until January 2021. Paid by direct debit all along with periodic meter readings submitted online. They had sent occasional bills at varying intervals and also increased my direct debit payment along the way, based on my consumption. I have…

Help choosing tarrif with price cap news - stay or go?
Hi all, I am struggling to find information on what the new proposed price cap is in terms of 'actual costs (in kwh and standing charges). Everything seems to be dumbed down for a quick glance on news sites etc. So it's making it difficult to work out whether or not it's a good option. I'm trying to work out whether to…

Switching from prepay to billed monthly worth it still
Hi When I bought my house in July it had a prepayment meter already installed with Utiltia. The plan was to work out our energy use then switch to monthly direct debit but this got made because Utilitia don't do normal monthly bills for some reason (just some way of paying the meter on direct debit). I've noticed the price…

Gas hike in prices - but what about electricity
All the comments on the news talk about the cost of gas going up. But what if one is all electric as in our retirement flats? Is electricity going up as much as gas - or does it make no difference?

Best tariff
My one year fixed dual energy deal with Ovo ends in March. I have been paying £80 a month. My renewal has just come through at £165 for a one year fixed or £175for two years. More than 100 per cent rise. Should I take the fixed deal or go variable.

Price Cap
There has been much debate on this recently, and the increase confirmed today will cause trouble for many. Hopefully Treasury initiatives will actually reach those who need help most. But I have a couple of technical questions about the cap: The cap is to move from £1,277 to £1,971. These are averages, based on typical…
