Fixed tariff ending, new fixed tariffs already above cap. Am I better to...
My fixed tariff ends this month. My new supplier's new fixed tariff offers are 10p/unit gas and 36p/unit elec.
Other online quotes are similar.
This is already above the new cap increase going to approx 7p gas and 28p elec in April.
Am I therefore better to lapse to their standard tariff which is subject to the cap?
Or am I missing something??
Annual consumption 2k elec 10k gas

Also take into account the difference in standing charge on the fixed tariff.

Not worried about standing charge. There's a finite number of days in a month so every 10p increase is just £3 per fuel per month.
I'm worried about my gas going from under 3p/unit to 10p/unit.
So should I just do nothing at the end of my fixed tariff and lapse to standard tariff? Which is subject to the cap at 4p/unit until April and then about 7p/unit after.
Does that make sense? What am I missing?0 -

Scottishpower both fuels.
I cheked with EDF too. I'm reluctant to switch to a budget supplier in this turmoil (or at all).
Just making sure falling back to SVR is a better than to fix at those rates.
I suppose in October the cap could increase above 10p gas but it still seems I'll be better off.
