Energy

My energy tariff has ended today I was on a fixed protection plus Jan 22v2 and been paying £55 a month which works out at about £700-£800 for the last year for gas and electricity just wondering what to do next go on another fixed rate which is a extra £1000 and the cheapest one was £1700 a year or just go to the standard rate

IMHO even after April you would be best off sticking to the SVR unless the rates reduce drastically between now and just after April
Someone please tell me what money is

No correct answer I'm afraid, but I'd do the same as wild666 and go onto the SVR until we know more about the landscape.
  • I am with Scottish power on a fixed deal which ends on 28 February.
I am all electric and I have Economy 7 meter.
My existing rates until end of Feb are Day 19p per unit and Night rate 8p per unit.
They suggest I move now to their best fixed offer which is until end of May 2023, the new prices are
Day 35p per unit Night 22p per unit which represents an increase of 83% increase on the day rate and 171% increase on the night rate.
I use 67% of my annual total electricity at night with storage heaters. My total annual electricity consumption is 12400kwh.
Needless to say I won't be taking up their offer and will be looking for a reasonable alternative before April.
Don't have the option of gas or wood burner.
Fingers crossed for a better deal coming forward.

If you can find another fixed rate that's cheaper or the same as the standard rate then go on that, otherwise go on the standard rate.
You've not given us any unit prices or annual usages so that's about all we can suggest.
