New tariff
Hi, I've managed to get a new tariff sorted. Not the one I wanted but I think it's okay. Does this sound OK? Electric SC 19.116p Kwhp 20.325 Gas SC 13.298 Kwph 4.976 It's not as good as I'm on now, and I'll obviously lose the cheaper feb/March month but do these figures sound okay?

Hi all, I've lived in my property for just over 2 years. A year ago, I received an an annual statement from British Gas, with a big green square saying " Good news, your payments are spot on" then I glanced over the breakdown and my monthly payments seemed very low so I phoned to check as I didn't want to build up a debt…

Standing charge increased
I have today lost the benefits of a fixed charge energy account - and have been put on a variable tarriff The charges per kW have, not surprisingy increased by around 33% But on what grounds have standing charges been increased by almost 100% on my energy account? Surely - they can't claim that the cost of transporting the…

Why are electricity prices linked to gas prices?
I had an email from Octopus. It said electricity prices were going up because the cost of electricity in the UK is linked to the cost of gas. This seems idiotic to me as the UK doesn't produce gas. I wonder why it can't be unlinked - does anyone know?

Zog to EDF to EON Next
After being moved from Zog to EDF, I transferred my account to EON Next, which started 6 Jan 22. EDF acknowledge that I have left and today is 4 weeks and two days since I left. In normal circumstances, I believe they have 6 weeks to produce a final bill and then a further 10 working days to issue any refund - otherwise I…

Solar panels (leased) can I install batteries?
I have leased solar panels (a shade greener). They regularly have a surplus going back to the grid in the hours of 10am to 3pm. Does anyone know if installing something like a powerwall battery pack is forbidden. I think there may be alternative battery setups that will make it economically viable now energy prices are…

The price cap isn't much of a cap
It's gonna jump by over 50% in April and will alter every 6 months. There are talks it could be adjusted in as little as 3 month periods. This would be fine if the cap was limited to more general inflation, 7% or whatever. 50% increase tho! I wouldn't call that a price cap any more than I would call the Hubble Constant a…

If you have old, or defective window insulation....here's atip I learned from my days in enery effin
When I worked in the energy efficiency dept....many moons ago, I was given a great tip for insulating your windows,(if you have no, or inefficient windows), place clingfilm over them and use your hairdryer to tighten it! Works as a secondary double glaze! Cheaper than some alternatives! Also...only heat rooms you use and…

Looking at EDF Fixed but unsure of capped rates from April 22
I am contemplating swapping from the EDF capped rate (as an ex Utility Point customer) to the EDF fixed tariff until 29 Feb 2024.
