GAS PREPAYMENT
I have a gas pre-payment meter. If I top up hypothetically £500 today does this mean i have built a "hedge" against price rises in the near future. Will my gas price remain a t todays price until the £ 500 credit is exhausted? If not why not?

Low energy user price fix question
Hey all, oh my days these times are unprecedented and good luck to each and every one of us. Just like so many of you probably, I just don't know what to do, but I don't feel like I fit into the videos that Martin has made. I currently spend about £933 a year on energy, a use of 4589kwh on gas and 2705 kWh on eleccy, ish.…

Landlord - October £200 Energy Loan
Hi, Hypothetical scenario which may potentially occur for some landlords... If you have a property vacant when the £200 credit hits your bill, and then subsequently a tenant is found - how would this work? Would the landlord have to keep an account open and return the £200 over several years? my understanding is a property…

Why is standing charge increasing?
Sounding dumb here, but why is standing charge increasing so much as not related to buying energy on wholesale?

Price cap for prepayment?
All I keep hearing is price cap for direct debit but very little for prepayment meters. I have looked at this https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/what-is-the-energy-price-cap/ I need something for prepayment, any ideas where to find? Everything I google, it's come with how to top up etc Cheers

Very confused by the energy rises
I pay by variable direct debit, so send in a meter reading every month and pay for energy used. My gas Estimated annual usage is 9050.94 kWh and electric Estimated annual usage is 3250.00 kWh. Current tariff runs out on 31st March 22, and is Gas - 3.201p kwh, SC 24.832p Electric 17.579p kwh, SC 23.191p I can't see any…

Afetr PFP fail, 'adopted' by BG, getting threatening letters but I haven't agreed a contract.
BG are shady as kcuf - they sent threatening emails insisting that adopted customers move to a smart meter, now they are sending bills and threatening emails. I have never liked them, overpreiced tat peddlars. I would never have chosen them as a utility provided. But after PFP failed, I wasn't given a choice, I just got…

So now OFGEM has said how much we are ALL paying for failed energy firms
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-60257448 So £68 or nearly 10% of the increase that every one of us is now facing is to cover the cost of the failed energy firms. So while the shareholders of the likes of AVRO et al continue to live in their mansions built off their ill gotten (and sometime illicit) gains, every one of…

Electricity Only
Our home is on electricity only. Does anyone know how it will be affected by the energy price cap? We are a rural property with storage heaters. We have no option to use any other fuel. We also have an EV charger unit installed for our EV. Thanks

Martin Lewis: How the new flat rate £200 energy bill loan really works
Martin Lewis explains how a new £200 energy bill loan offered by the Government really works in his latest video. The initiative was announced this week in a bid to help households with the rising cost of living, following confirmation that typical energy bills will rise by £693 a year from 1 April. But there's lots of…

Over Sse direct debit calculation rip off
I have noticed ovo sse direct debit calculation is wrong and could have the affect of costing its consumers millions of pounds. Using Sse app I reviewed my gas direct debit. On the app the calculation is Cost of energy Plus money you 0we Divided by installments due. They omit to take into account any credit in your ac. I…

When was the last time someone came to read your meters?
I honesty can't remember when I last had someone physically come out and check my meters? I vaguely recall that energy companies used to have to do this a safety check and would take readings at the same time. It might be 10 years or more since I actually had someone come round and do this though.

Electricity help
Hi, I live in a 3 bed flat on my own where the energy supply is electricity only. My bills are coming in at £500 per month and the smart meter is recording daily usage at 60kwh per day. It had under electric heating and I have had this removed and replaced with modern economic panel heating. I only use my bedroom, shower,…

Economy 7 hours SSE
I moved in the summer and couldn't get a fixed tariff. It's an all-electric apartment so has Economy 7 for storage heaters. Previously my supplier (Ovo - who are now linked to SSE) could tell me the hours of my Econ 7, so I could budget. They actually had I think 2 hours of low, then 2 hours of high, then the remaining 5…

Price cap
I would like clarification on the price cap and what this actually means. 2 years ago my energy provider went bust and the account was moved without my knowledge to another . They increased estimated readings to a much higher tariff and were trying to change me roughly 240 per month for energy which I cannot have used and…
