Very confused by the energy rises

I pay by variable direct debit, so send in a meter reading every month and pay for energy used.
My gas Estimated annual usage is 9050.94 kWh and electric Estimated annual usage is 3250.00 kWh.
Current tariff runs out on 31st March 22, and is
Gas - 3.201p kwh, SC 24.832p
Electric 17.579p kwh, SC 23.191p
I can't see any other tariff (am with BG) which is better than the SVR of 7p gas, 28p electric.
I'm trying to roughly guess my monthly bills from April. I would normally take my monthly usage x pkwh, add the monthly standing charge and add the 5%VAT. So for example last month was 300kwh electric and 1110.70kwh gas.
Working on the new figures of 7p and 28p, would I just work it out the same? So electric would be 300kwh x 28p and then add on standing charge and VAT, the same for the gas.
If so, then the monthly amounts (subject to usage) is doable, not great but I might just be able to manage. I'm worried that I've worked it out wrong and it'll be much higher. Some posts on here seem really confusing with different %'s and unit prices. Very confused, can anyone help...in simple layman's terms!

So, for last month's electric of 300kwh
300 x 17.579p = 52.73
SC 31 days x 23.191 = 7.18 = 59.91 + VAT
On the new SvR I worked out
300 x 28p = 84.00
SC 31 days x 45p (can't remember exact) = 13.95 = 97.85 + VAT
Have I worked it out right?0 -

Have I worked it out right?Pretty much, yes - although you've lost 10p in your adding-up.Depending on where you are in the country your standing charge will vary between 32p/day and 51p/day, and your unit rate between 27p/kWh and 30p/kWh.N. Great, thank you. Maths has never been my strong point 😁 I've checked the table so have the right figures. Gas SC lower but Gas kwh slightly more than 7p, electric SC higher but kwh ever so slightly less. Swings and roundabouts. Thanks for replying, at least I can have a rough idea how much more to pay! 👍QrizB said:Marsha2007 said:So, for last month's electric of 300kwh
