As I understand it - your account will be credited by £200 in October. That may well take you into credit and as you  are a low user may well take several months before you need to pay a bill again.

You will get a shock in October 2023  when in addition to your normal bill an extra £40 will be due.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Every electricity account will get a £200 credit in October.
And then every electricity account will pay it back over the next 5 years.
    That's pretty much it.

As far as we know, it should not be a £40 charge, it will just be an increased standing charge over the course of a year.

  • I was going to start a new thread but it seems reasonable to use this one.

If we are lumbered with the £200 discount which we then have to pay back. I am planning to keep my summer time direct debit payments as low as possible. Normally I would pay more in the summer to off set winter but if the £200 con goes ahead I don't want a large credit balance in the system which will either drop my payments or leave a large surplus for energy companies to have in their bank accounts.

Just thought if in October 2022 you have a credit balance of £200 could you then ask for that money to be transferred to your bank rather then sitting in an energy companies accounts? Or will it be treated like a free bet money you cant withdraw.

Where does it say we have to start paying it back in October 2023 ?
We may have to start paying it back immediately if they roll it into the SC.

I understand the repayments start April 23 by raising the daily standing charge by 11p a day
