When I worked in the energy efficiency dept....many moons ago, I was given a great tip for insulating your windows,(if you have no, or inefficient windows), place clingfilm over them and use your hairdryer to tighten it! Works as a secondary double glaze! Cheaper than some alternatives!
Also...only heat rooms you use and need to keep warm...all the others...keep the heat low...if you have individual valves on each?
Fill your hot water bottles early in the evening...allowing time for them to air your beds and put a blanket over them to keep the heat constant!
