Green Network issue - any advice appreciated!
We switched supplier from Green Network Energy in August 2020. We believed we were up-to-date with payments but then received a very steep bill which we obviously queried. On giving another meter reading they agreed it was incorrect and said they would investigate. After not hearing back for a few weeks we contacted them…

Simplicity British Gas Evolve final bill very wrong
I've got no idea how they cooked up the total but by my calculations Simplicity owe me. I think I'll have to email them with all my calculations but just thought I'd run it by Folk here and see if people are getting similar results? I have photos of monthly meter reads since the start of the contract and so have all…

Moved into a new house on Friday and were told that the house was supplied by NPower but on trying to set up new account it seems this is now EON Next. Their website instructs you to email with details to set up an account which I did. Received an email a few days later saying they can only set up an account if we can…

SSE/incorrect address isssues
Just wondering if anyone had any advice for this situation. I moved into this flat just before Christmas last year. The building was converted in 2018 - the ground floor floor was offices (where I am) and the rest residential. When it was converted the address changed, as the building is on a corner of two roads it changed…

Energy Companies going bust
Over the last few months Tonik Energy, Yorkshire Energy, Simplicity Energy, Green Network Energy have all ceased trading. We are all being advised to compare and switch supplier to get the best deals but it seems to me the comparison process needs to include some sort of guide as to how safe these companies are. It's taken…

Electric Bill excessive after having Smart Meter installed.
We had Solar Panels and a Storage Battery installed over 2 years ago. In 2019 our bills were greatly reduced. Then British Gas put in a Smart Meter and our bill went sky high for 2020. We have taken meter readings and BG have said that the meter is showing the correct readings. We used 4367.0kWh last year our yearly bill…

Catch up bill problem
A friend has a received a large catch up bill from EDF (about £600). She thought that the amount her meter said she needed to pay was the amount that she had to pay. (Unusually the meter gave readings in pounds not Kilowatt hours). She was with Total energy for years and no problems but they went bust and she got…

Switching from Bulb varifair before price hikes
Following on from MSE email today I’ve looked at switching energy provider using the switching tool. It tells me I’m currently on the cheapest fair going by my usage, but how can I predict what Bulb’s varifair will go up to in April? Anyone in a similar situation?

Pre-payment meter faulty after power cut
Hi, i've got an electricity pre-payment meter with British Gas. About 3 weeks ago we had a power cut in our area and when the power came back on the meter display was lit up but was totally blank. I phoned BG but they said I had to wait for my credit to run out before they would repair/replace it. They'd then class it as…

Eon Website & App - no access to account
Having tried to gain access to my Eon Dual Fuel account via Website and App, I have been frustrated by number of repeat messages referencing issues with the system. The Web account denies me access, reporting "Error 1020" and that "the website is using a security service to protect itself from online attacks" and no access…

Just trying to get my head around electicity usage
We live in a 2 bed flat (purpose built) which has no gas supply so is fully electric and we have a prepay meter on E7. Trying to cut back where we can at the moment as money is tight so I'm just trying to get a rough idea of whether our spend seems "average" or not, I understand there are a lot of variables here so there…

Best alternative to gas central heating in 3 storey house with an old boiler and microbore pipes
So, the boiler is very old and will likely need replacing soon. Bearing in mind, the new regulations against gas boilers - I am investigating my options. I am not sure that a heat pump would work in my property as I have microbore pipes (extra small pipes) that tend to clog easily. Ideally, I would like to bypass the…
