Green Network issue - any advice appreciated!

We switched supplier from Green Network Energy in August 2020. We believed we were up-to-date with payments but then received a very steep bill which we obviously queried. On giving another meter reading they agreed it was incorrect and said they would investigate. After not hearing back for a few weeks we contacted them again but they said they were still looking into it and would be in touch. Have not heard back since.
Last week we received a bill from some debt collectors for the outstanding amount! We have been in daily contact with EDF to try and sort things out, but they have now said they cannot help.

Does anyone have any advice on how we can deal with this situation? We’ve tried calling the debt collectors but they are not responding and the administrators for green network say they have no clue what we can do!
Thank you in advance.

We have a similar problem so didnt want to start a new thread. Left GNE in June and joined Together energy. We raised the subject of innacurate final meter read at the switch but settled the final bill with GNE while investigated . In December we were asked to pay a further £190 as they were still disputing the final meter read. We paid this in order to avoid black mark on credit file but 3 days later our meter read dispute was settled and proved the final readings were accurate. We were told by GNE of the 8 week lag in processing credit refunds and since then have ceased trading. I was going to contact EDF but as you say they cant help I am at a loss as to who to contact. We cant complain to the ombudsman because they wont accept complaints about companies who have ceased trading. I switch every year because its the prudent thing to do but every year we seem to have some kind of dispute and making me think is it really worth the hassle for saving a few quid( or in this case losing £190)0
