Closing /Opening Meter Readings
I moved to Avro in June and they began taking monthly direct debit payments (beginning10 days before they took over the supply.) However, they have told me they are still waiting for the confirmation of the opening meter readings, so while I am supplying monthly meter readings to them they are not proving me with any…

Vertical or horizontal radiator in living room?
I'm getting radiators installed in the house but am struggling with where (and what) to put in the living room. Currently, there's a storage heater under the window. If I were to place a radiator there, it would be a short but wide (2m) radiator but would mean then not having full-height curtains (the current ones came…

Boiler Engineer - 20% weekly increase??
Hi, Recently had our boiler serviced under our YourRepair plan. The engineer said it had failed and that it would cost £180 to repair. I duly paid and he fixed it but the next day the boiler was not working (Note: it was working fine before this engineer came to service it). He said it needed another part and we agreed a…

Agile octopus - prices creeping up!
There used to be a huge discussion thread on agile octopus here but it appears to have been removed? Anyone else on agile who has been experiencing the significant price increases over the past month? Higher rates through the day. I thought the stretch of sunny days and / or huge wind storms over past few weeks would see…

Anyone used AC/Heat Pump as primary heating at home?
Hi Everyone, I'm trying to choose between Air to Air heat pump (air conditioning split unit) and a modern log burner for a small 35 sqm apartment. But I have never stayed at any home where AC is the primary heating method. Anyone tried that before? Is it any good?

Switch now or on October 1st?
I'm looking to switch from the standard rate at British Gas. I've heard that tariffs are going down on 1st October. Should I wait until October to get a better comparison of the prices just in case I tie myself into a fixed rate that's not the best deal?

Can someone else pay my bills?
I am a student and will be paying for my rent. I also have to pay for water rates, electricity and Internet. My mum wants to pay my utility bills from her bank and have them in her name. Anything Positive about Smart Meters?
I’m currently with EDF as they offered the best fixed rates
when my last deal ended in April. Part of the deal was the acceptance of a
Smart Meter at some time in the future (it was the early stages of Covid then).
So far I’ve heard nothing and will delay their installation as long as I
possibly can, sending reading every…

Help! Our New Home Has Prepayment Meters - British Gas being obstructive
Due to C-19, we had to agree to take a rental property from photos and were only allowed to see it once we'd paid the deposit and first month's rent. Turns out it has prepayment meters. I already have confirmation email from the letting agent on behalf of the landlord that we are allowed to change our suppliers as I'm a…

SMETS2 with solar panels?
We moved house last year into a house with solar panels. In credit. Shouldn't they contact me?
I pay my dual fuel bill by DD without really keeping an eye on it. In an idle moment I logged in to find I am well over £100 in credit. Obviously I will ring up to lower my monthly payments but I'm peeved that they never let me know. Is it right that these companies take the extra without letting customers know?
