Anyone used AC/Heat Pump as primary heating at home?

Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to choose between
Air to Air heat pump (air conditioning split unit) and a modern log burner for a small 35 sqm apartment.
But I have never stayed at any home where AC is the primary heating method.

Anyone tried that before?
Is it any good?

Log burner for an apartment?? Does it have a chimney?
I assume you are on the ground floor?
There can be a problem with noise(for the neighbours) with Air to Air heat pumps. As you will still have to heat water with electricity, is it worth spending money on installing a lower running cost system for such a small apartment; whan a £10 fan heater from Argos will suffice

Air source heat pumps are less effective when temperatures drop.  They work and heat up efficiently, but may not do so sufficiently effectively and swiftly to ensure your comfort all day long.

They work fine for heating in the UK winter (about same cost as gas) - iv'e had it for 4 years and have never had to add extra heating and in the current hot spell they cool your room down to a pleasent temperature which a log burner won't do!
