I'm looking to switch from the standard rate at British Gas. I've heard that tariffs are going down on 1st October. Should I wait until October to get a better comparison of the prices just in case I tie myself into a fixed rate that's not the best deal?

If you're on a standard tariff, you'll still likely be hugely overpaying. Even compared to the new cap level, a typical household on a capped tariff could still save £250+/yr by moving to the cheapest dealsJump on a comparison site, bash your usage in and see what you can save, you may be surprised.0

Being on BG's Standard tariff, you can Switch to any supplier at any time.Don't wait for a rumoured price drop in October, even if it happens BG won't be the cheapest or best for service.Do the job properly - Visit the Citizens Advice comparison site, it lists all the suppliers without fear or favour. To get accurate results you should know your Annual energy consumption figures, but if not put in your best guess - When you think you have found a supplier/s who's prices you like, it's Important that you check their customer feed back There are some real dogs out there - If you are unsure of a supplier, post the question on this forum1

Please also be aware that an estimated yearly saving or monthly Direct Debit is just that an estimate ,not an all you can eat price .Key is unit price and daily standing charge .0
