Increased direct debit
Hi everyone, I switched gas and electric at the start of the year from SSE to Green Network Energy. The DD was about £7 cheaper and we had an estimated saving of about £100 if we switched. I've just had an email from GNE today saying my DD is increasing by £18, from £50/month to £68. I am concerned about the huge increase…

Back billing when account is in credit
Would the back billing rules still apply with usage older than 12 months when the account is in credit (due to monthly direct debits), regular meter reads have been provided yet no bills produced? If so could you then reclaim the credit from the supplier?

EDF - Strange Variations on Tariffs (Direct vs Energy Club)
I used the Energy Club to do a comparison. Igloo is the cheapest. EDF is £2 more a month. Both have the £25 cashback offer. EDF has a £106 offer if I go through Topcashback. But the "Online Easy Fix v3" is only available through the cheap energy club. Going direct to the website gets you v2, which is a lot more expensive:…

Green Network Energy Problems
I have been a user of this energy company for more than a year and recently renewed. Then I got a helpful prompt from the Energy Saving Club telling me of lower tariffs elsewhere -- including an approved supplier who would pay my early exit fee of £30. When I informed GNE of my intention to leave I got a flurry of demands…

Cheap Energy Club - British Gas tariffs
On the advice of the Cheap Energy Club I decided to switch my BG tariff from a dual fixed to the Energy Plus Protection Green Jun 2020. This was supposed to save me £355 pa. I have just had a letter from BG about my new payment plan but the details are exactly the same as what I'm already paying by DD. The girl at BG says…

Eon heat flooding - what are my rights?
My boiler and heat meter are in a cupboard on my hallway. I have noticed yesterday that the laminate flooring on my hallway was cupped with the corners raised, and noticed that the entire cupboard area was wet. The flooring in the cupboard is carpet by the way. I called in a plumber and he told me that it was actually Eon…

Eon v20 fixed - £450 debt
Hi all, As a first time home buyer, I looked around on saving websites and found that Eon offered v20 fixed £40 per month for 2 years which was the best deal I could find. I phoned Eon up and started the contract and provided my meter readings. This was in October 2018. I have had the direct debit for £40 taken from my…

Back billing
Hi I know the general principle of back billing but not sure how it applies in my case. I’ve altered the dates for simplicity. I was with my previous supplier for dual fuel from 1/2/18 until 1/2/19 I last received a bill 1/11/18 that billed up to 31/10/18. I have not had a bill to cover 1/11/18 - 1/2/19 for either fuel,…

Can I stop the boiler heating the HW when I am not home?
The central heating controller is not capable of setting the CH & HW separately. Therefore, the boiler keeps kicking in to heat up the HW when I am in bed & at work. From the 11th May to 10th June I have used 635kWh gas. I am in a 2 bed bungalow & leave the house at 7:30am & do not get in while 5pm although 3 days per week…

Harassment of my elderly mother by SMS, on behalf of Shell Energy regarding Smart Meter fitting
Hi everyone, I am looking for advice on how to report SMS, the company fitting smart meters on behalf of Shell Energy. My Mum was a customer of First Utility and since the automatic migration to Shell Energy, she has been harassed by many phone calls from SMS, trying to bully her into getting a smart meter. She told them…

GCSE's are almost over!
Someone has just PM'd me to say that GCSE's are almost over - apparently the last few are next week. May I take this opportunity to wish all MSEers, especially those taking this down time period to join here and post, the very best of luck! A nail biting time for most waiting until 22 August when results are announced.

Quick question: Gas bill meter reading letter
Hi, Hopefully a quick question for you all... On my Avro energy bill, the Electricity part is clear, the meter readings have a "C" next to them, which I guess means Customer read. My Gas part, however, has "N" next to the meter readings. I can't find anything on Google, although I may be searching for the wrong phrase Any…

Extra Energy final bill - how to pay
I'm a bit confused! Have received email and final bill for my Extra Energy account and the bill says it will be taken by direct debit in 17 days. No Outside Stop Tap - Should Water Co Provide One?
My flat doesn't have an external stop tap. The supply pipe for the flat comes from the road, then under the pavement, then under a tarmaced forecourt that I own and then under the threshold of the front door to the inside where there is an internal stop tap under a trap door under door mat. I think it's lead all the way.…

DCC and 1st Gen smart meters
Weve got a 1st gen smart meter installed. I've read about from summer 2019 they will be migrated on DCC so you can switch suppliers and maintain smart functionality. If I switch before this date, will i lose functionality forever, or just until it is migrated?
