Smart meters
I have an elderly mother who needs to switch energy supplier but I’m finding it very difficult to find suppliers that are willing to supply her without insisting on installing a smart meter. She has heard more negative feedback about smart meters than good and is adamant she doesn’t want one. She lives on the borders of…

Is Economy 7 worth it these days?
I've been looking at my girlfriend's energy bills for her because she's spending £2,000 a year in electricity (gas not available) for her small 3 bed flat (originally 2 bed flat but one bedroom has been converted to 2 very small bedrooms for two kids). She's on SSE's Standard & Off Peak Fx tariff which is currently 15.38p…

Which comparison site can I trust?
I was with OneSelect & have been transferred to Together Energy on their Together OS Dec 18 tariff fixed for six months (Electricity Standing Charge 25.01p/day & 15.02p/kwh Gas Standing Charge 19.06p & 3.56p/kwh). This is about 30% more than I was paying OneSelect which is doubtless one of the reasons that they went out of…

Grant work and small claims court.
Please can you help? We have had ECO Grant new storage heaters fitted. We have discovered that the work is sub standard. Can we still go the small claims court route - even though we did not pay for the work direct. Payment was direct from the grant people to the installation company. Thanks

SSE Credit
Hi! I have been living in this household since September with four other girls. One of them decided to use her account for the bills and, without asking for our permission, she started a fixed tariff contract with SSE. Some of my flatmates thought they could use the heatings as much as they wanted to so the consumption was…

Boost (OVO) not honouring Economy credit
Economy Energy went into administration a couple of weeks ago, OVO were appointed by a Ofgem to take over supply to their customers. As far as I can gather from the Ofgem website, OVO are supposed to be honouring customers’ credit with Economy, but this appears not to be happening for prepayment customers. OVO (or rather…

EDF - new tariff with compulsory smart meter ... possibly
Just looking at a new EDF tariff. Their most popular tariff, and the cheapest for me, has this condition well hidden in the full T&C document: SIGNING UP FOR THIS TARIFF MEANS YOU AGREE TO: Having a Smart meter installed by us, when we’re installing them in your area. I checked back with EDF and they told me that despite…

EDF Energy Bill Advice
I rented a small 2 bed flat for 10 months with my partner, electric only, no gas. We both worked full time, therefore out the majority of the day. We moved into the property in October 2017 to find our storage heaters did not work. We had no heating until January 2018. We were very cautious to not waste energy therefore…

Solar panels with smart meters?
Hi, Since getting solar panels fitted as part of a green deal about 4 years ago it has saved me a lot of money. Until my energy supplier fitted me a new smart meter that is! Since then my electricity bills have rocketed, even in summer where we had an unusually long sunny spell! It's obvious the meter isn't taking the…

British Gas don't know if they're coming or going!!
Got an appointment booked on Friday to have smart meters installed. Boiler grants
Hi My wife was recently awarded a new boiler under the grant scheme due to her disability. Unfortunately I wasn’t there when the guy came to see what boiler we needed and just had my wife to sign a form and an engineer would be out in 3 weeks to fit a new boiler. However, I looked at the scheme and it said that it’s up to…
