Boiler grants
Hi
My wife was recently awarded a new boiler under the grant scheme due to her disability.
Unfortunately I wasn’t there when the guy came to see what boiler we needed and just had my wife to sign a form and an engineer would be out in 3 weeks to fit a new boiler.
However, I looked at the scheme and it said that it’s up to my wife what boiler she wanted, which she wasn’t aware of.
We currently have a free standing Worcester boiler and this was going to be replaced by a middle of the range make I haven’t heard of.
I’ve requested a more efficient boiler like the one we already have but they said if i want a Worcester make I would have to fork out £1600 towards one??
Has anyone had a Worcester boiler free on the scheme

What make do you currently have, and what make have you been offered?
The efficiency of modern condensing boilers is broadly similar, so a mid-range one won't be less efficient, just maybe less reliable.
Which grant scheme are you applying to?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Hi
Boiler grant scheme, we were accepted for a Viessmann Combi but it wasn’t strong enough due to the 4 bathrooms we have.
We have been told there are two options, either go for the direct replacement for our highflier 400 which is the 440 version which will come with an advanced payment of £1350.
Or go for an unvented system which costs £2200 advanced payment.
Do you know if different companies charge different prices or are they set the same0 -
I'm guessing as I don't know but I suspect that the grant is a fixed amount and you either get the boiler that the installer can get within the grant amount or you pay extra if you want something different.
Others may know differentNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

Just paid £1350 all in, so not bad for that type of boiler0
