Outstanding Balance
So myself and my partner arrive home tonight to find an energy bill addressed to my mother in law (which we opened as at one stage all 3 of us lived together and the bills were in her name) Upon opening the letter (dated 12th May) we are a little shocked to see a bill for an outstanding balance of over £1000 from Scottish…

How can i get edf to cut off my gas and take away the meter?
Hi everyone I am so stressed after speaking to EDF. In my home, the only thing I use gas for is my cooker. When I look at my gas bills, I pay a LOT more in standing charge than I do for actual gas consumption. I live alone so am not constantly using my gas cooker. My gas cooker is unwell and I need to buy a new one so…

Help! Credit Check NPower
Hi! So I have just moved into a rented house and now called NPower. Apparently due to my credit I need to either pay £400 upfront (security deposit £200 for electric and £200 for gas) or go onto a prepayment metre which I'm not sure my landlord will allow! I don't understand how we passed credit checks to rent but can't…

An empty property
Are there any Gas/ Electricity suppliers who do not charge a standing charge on an empty property? I have had a house wrecked by a tenant and at the moment I am unable to afford to do the repairs. I believe all companies charge for removing the meters and again for reinstalling them so finding a utility provider that…

Homecare Agreement invalidated
I;ve had a Homecare agreement for 20 years with British Gas covering this house and my last house. This also includes radiators. Last March I had an independent contractor do a power flush. The power flush helped and rads were hotter as a result. Three months after the flush British Gas came to do the annual boiler…

Problem when I switching supplier 2 years ago
I switched supplier from Sainsbury Energy 2 years ago and just had an email from them saying I still had £20 ish still in my account and they would use it for my next bill. Leaving npower
Is anyone else having trouble leaving npower? I started the ball rolling in mid March and was suddenly sent a raft of bills dating back 5 years, starting over £3000 in credit and then finishing with a bill of almost £900. I phoned them up and they said to start with that they had got the day and night rates mixed up and…

Non Dual Fuel
One of the reasons I have not moved, is that when I did a comparison, it would have been cheaper to stay with SP, due to the fact that I am entitled to the WHD, However, I did a search today and found that moving just my electric over to EON would save me £57 a year, with the added bonus of being able to claim the WHD.…

Prepaid electric meter and warm homes discount for the disabled
Hi, I am a new one to the forum and need some help. I am currently on a prepaid electric meter with EDF, I only just realised that I could have been getting the warm homes discount. I know that it is to late to apply for the 2016-2017 payment, and I want to stay with a prepaid meter, but only some energy companies offer…
