Leaving npower

Is anyone else having trouble leaving npower?
I started the ball rolling in mid March and was suddenly sent a raft of bills dating back 5 years, starting over £3000 in credit and then finishing with a bill of almost £900.
I phoned them up and they said to start with that they had got the day and night rates mixed up and these were to put it right. I told them to think again. When I called again they said that it was due to not having thestorage heaters that have never been in the property and that they had to change my tarrif.
I have worked out what my final bill should be based on meter readings down to 5 decimal points and told them that I just want to pay the bill and be done with them. It cannot be too difficult surely.
I personally think that they are trying to get another years money off me to help prop up their ailing parent company. They can never give me straight answers on where their figures come from or the dates when they first were the totally incompetent company that they appear to be.
My 56 days on the complaint system is nearly up and I am waitng for a call back.
I ask again is it just me having these problems with their greed.

I don't think N-power will be trying to force you to stay. It's more likely that they just can't sort your issue out, which is annoying for you in itself
My experience with N-power was that polite and try to be helpful as the customer services staff are, it requires the involvement of their Executive Complaints dept to get any out of the ordinary issues sorted
I too had the whole transposed readings saga and went round and round the houses for weeks on end, even though I told them what the problem was. When Executive Complaints got involved it got sorted straight away. Lord knows why this was needed as it was pretty straightforward but there you go
So I would recommend emailing them on executive.complaints@npower.com and start the message with the word COMPLAINT. Hopefully you'll get a quick resolution from that0 -
Sorry, I missed the part of your post which says you already have a complaint running. My response may still apply though. I also had a complaint going but it was only when I was referred to Executive Complaints, which came via this MSE site, that I was actually assigned a named individual to take on the issue and who did so very quickly. Prior to then and during the period of the complaint I was still just passed round the houses0
