Meter Readings and crappy GB Energy
Second post about this, but this one takes a different angle. Over the past few weeks I've noticed that my electric usage is just completely wrong, huge day time usage and slim to no night time, and thats with Storage and Immersion heaters on Economy 7.... So, the other day I waited for it to switch over to the night rate,…

Cheapest site to BUY loft insulation
Hi, Ive recently purchased a house only to find there is very little loft insulation. The problem I am facing when trying to get government funded insulation is that the loft has been converted into a room and because of this I cannot get any funding. However there is still a large crawl space around room along the eve's…

E7 clock timings, again!
Have had a look at other posters views on this. At the mo', the actual day/night rate changes, on the modern digital reader seem to agree with the ancient clockwork timer, which clangs past it's changes with great authority, albeit going from night to day rate at 11 AM. (It's actual clock is inaccurate, by a few hours,…

Never heard of them.
I am feeling reticent about switching my power suppliers. All the ones that come through as being cheaper I have never heard of which is making me dither over changing. How do I know they are reliable? At present I also have one of those little machines from my electricity supplier which constantly monitors my usage and I…

Scottish Power Fined £18M
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-36137005 SP to pay £18M after customer service failings due to new IT system. I am sure many here will have a different view on that statement. Another sign of a broken system and weak regulator being easily hoodwinked ?

Changing Suppliers Saga
Thought I would share my experience with you - perhaps someone has an answer? Moved into another house 5 weeks ago. Trying to change gas and electric supplier from Npower to British Gas. Seems that British Gas cannot go ahead with the change because my address is incorrect on the Xoserve database. The only people who can…

IGT Supply
We moved into a new build about 8 months ago and the energy bills are much higher than our old (larger) house. I have found out it could be to do with it being supplied by a IGT. Does anyone know how to get round this as I've tried a few comparison sites who then can not complete the switch due to the supply coming from a…

Payback of overpayments on swopping suppliers
Hi, We are going to be investigating switching our gas and electric suppliers. The only concern I have is that we have been quite substantially overpaying and have quite a large amount in credit. The query is will we just automatically get paid back this amount when we change ? Many thanks all Sara

Problems with prepayment smart meter
I recently had installed a smart prepayment meter. When I top up my credit the payment automatically goes through to my account. However this is not happening. My supplier states it is the shops fault as the Paypoint connection must be faulty. I have tried a different Paypoint with the same result. I am now at a loss what…

paypoint shop muck up (not my loss there loss)
Had £3 on my electric meter, so went to top it up with a tenner, the fella in the shop had a bit of a problem putting the credit on the key, eventually he topped up my key with the £10 and gave my my receipt (which says ten pounds). Put the key in the meter and I have £33 (beneficial for me I know) instead of the £13…

NPower ongoing problems & escalating!
Hi everyone, I've been a member of MSE website for 6 years but have never posted in the forums until now; so please bear with me if I don't get this quite right. I'm really needing advice as my problems with NPower are driving me to distraction (and depression). It started last year with a letter saying due to billing…

Can i change billing from economy 7 to normal tariff after bill sent?
Hi. Ive just realised I'v got a dual meter instead of one reading, but i don't use hardly any energy at night so my bill is a lot higher than it should be. Can i ask to recalculate on a normal tariff? I didn't ask to be on economy 7. Or can you get refunded? Thanks

Hydron Debt & Metering And First Utility
Hi I have found a legal anomaly whereby Hydron have been leaving letters of intent to apply for a court warrant, where they are overcharging by threat within this letter. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has had the misfortune of having a warrant served against them, as I feel there is a fundamental flaw in…

Direct Debit for Utilities NOT cheaper
Since signing up to DDs for utilities over 2 yrs ago, I simply do not find it cheaper, although you're supposed to get discounts etc. compared with paying quarterly by cheque. I used to have money accumulating in my current account, but now it's always on a steady low balance. That's my real experience. I have twice tried…

npower - how long after entering my own reading before its updated on their system?
as the title says. entered my MR's today but nothing in history or account to say they are in the system. I can see a nice tariff I would like to switch to but as my readings and the last estimated reading are a little out I would like to make sure my "estimate" for the new tariff includes todays readings. thanks.
