Changing Suppliers Saga

Thought I would share my experience with you - perhaps someone has an answer?

Moved into another house 5 weeks ago. Trying to change gas and electric supplier from Npower to British Gas. Seems that British Gas cannot go ahead with the change because my address is incorrect on the Xoserve database. The only people who can get this changed is Npower, my present supplier. Contacted them and they are sending me a form by post which I need to complete, send back to them and they will then inform Xoserve who will (eventually?) correct the mistake. In the meantime I am stuck with Npower - for as long as they take to address this issue! Am I being led down the garden path here? British Gas inform me that their hands are tied until the error is rectified. Is this a common problem or am I just unlucky? Is there anymore I can do to speed up this process?

    I would tell them you want to open a formal complaint with them. If it isn't resolved within 8 weeks they will refer you to the ombudsman. This will usually speed things up as Npower won't want this.

    Hi Timer

    I can confirm that the email address is in the profile of the nPower user.

    However, I guess you are on the silly new forum design that the powers that be have imposed on all new users. You need to change it to the old 'green' format (in your User CP) if you can - then you can see it. You cannot see it on the new, super, duper, all singing, all dancing, brilliant new forum design you are set up with by default.

    Perhaps you could let the powers that be here know of the issues you are experiencing with this imposition?

    Company representatives have their PM system disabled by the powers that be - that's why you cannot PM Carmel.
