According to Companies House, Age UK has been a company since the 20th February 2009.
That doesn't surprise me at all. Many charities are also companies. Dual charity/company status offers a great deal of protection to the trustees should the charity become insolvent.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Exploitation of Geriatrics.

Make Prince Charles chairman?
Link up with the Boy Scouts, who can volunteer to help the elderly.
Future scandal: like !!!!!philes joining the Catholic Church to abuse children, godless children join up to steal from their wards. They intimidate and torture their assigned elderly persons to force them to withdraw their money. The elderly are not believed, and eventually the scandal breaks, and then they can't punish the children because they are underage.
Too many people go into Age UK and have total belief that they have been given a really good deal. Only the savvy ones, or those with concerned relatives, would research a bit more and find out they could have got an even better deal from E.On by doing it themselves.
Age UK are good in the support they provide to the elderly, but this particular arrangement stinks of backhanders.
