We just have a newborn and we decide to buy an air purifier to keep our house clean and fresh. But how much does it cost monthly if we let it on 24/7? We don't want to have a shocking bill tbh:eek:

Pre pay smart meter, what if I want to change to credit in future?
I have been wanting to get a credit meter for a while but my credit score isnt that great(had ID theft a few years ago) anyway my supplier is installing a smart meter which is better for me in some ways i.e I get a £5 credit free, have £10 emergency instead of £5 and can top up online. However I wondered should I want to…

Small energy suppliers
I found the following comment against one energy supplier mentioned in a comparison generated by the energy saving club:In the past, a few table-topping new entrants have severely struggled to cope with demand. That may or may not happen with this supplier. Does anybody know what struggling to cope with demand means here?…

Finding the best tariff when I'm not switching
We're moving into a new house next week and would like to research the cheapest electricity/gas companies. But.... All the online tools ask what we're currently using, however we currently rent a property which has a key meter and no gas. Is there anywhere I can compare the best deals when I don't know how much we're…

Meter sparking, melted front etc
I am in a panic! Moved here about 5 months ago and did think I was paying far too little electric, I was topping up about £20 a month. What has happened recently though was every time I used my cooker it tripped the electrics for the flat and meter sparked, first 1 hob then 2 and tonight 3. Anyway I topped up earlier and…

Green Deal - I'm paying more than I use!
I have recently moved from a 3 bed terraced where I was paying a total of £66 for gas and electric. I am disabled and not working so money is tight, hence I really try to be careful with my usage. I have just moved into a 2 bed terraced where the landlord told me that due to all the recent home improvements my bills would…

There seems to be 2 electricity suppliers to the flat we moved in, what should we do?
I would really appreciate your advices on this matter. When we moved in, one supplier suddenly created an electricity account under my name with wrong meter serial number and reading without my approval claiming they were supplying the flat before. I have made complaint at that time about these, wrong meter number and…

First Utility Account over £400 in credit!
Hello there. I wondered if anyone has a problem with a First Utility account, or any other Power company, similar to mine and if so, how did you sort it? After being with British Gas for years, I switched to First Utility last November mainly due to MSE. Their product was a Fixed Price deal to 2015, with unit prices less…

Solar installed and n power says my reading is less than last year??
Hi All, My N Power electric tariff is out of discounted period now so I rang them to get off their standard tarrif. To my amazement they said my meter was going back words and I was generating more than I was using. They went on to say an online tariff wouldn't benefit me at this stage and that I should contact the micro…

Broken Mains Cable
Whilst repairing an outside old water pipe, I inadvertently went through the Boards mains supply into my house, despite keeping an eye out for services. They were really quick getting out but the cable that ran down the middle of my driveway was only 200mm deep. It scare the hell out of us when we went through it, hell of…

Programmable Radiator Controls
Does anyone have any of these in their house, and how reliable are they? I would like to put them in a few rooms (including the baby's room so we can have the heating on in the evening without his room ending up roasting hot!), but a small amount of research indicates they seem to break a lot, or reset themselves? I can…

Fixed Energy Tariffs
I recently switched energy supplier through MSE's Cheap Energy Club on a 12 month tariff with First Utility. One month on, they have now offered me a fixed 3 year deal on a higher rate and I don't know whether I should switch to the longer fixed tariff or stick to the 12 month deal.

cheap energy club & npower Nov2015 fix
On the cheap energy club it shows that the npower Nov 2015 fix is still available (but this is not shown on the npower site) Am I likely to be switched to the correct tariff? I don't want to end up on another npower tariff as I would be worse off. I'm currently with npower. I really don't trust these switching sites as the…

Utility Warehouse - sneaky tactic?
Just looked at my December Utility Warehouse bill, and lo and behold there is a new bill item, Bill Protector, for £2. Turns out it's a form of accidental death cover, which you can optionally sign up to ... except they seem to have "optionally" done it for me without bothering to ask! Sneaky. There are lots of different…

We both work, and have a combined income of 39k, I have been unemployed for most of the last 2 years so we're not in the poor house, but not flush with cash either. Our boiler went last…
