HI guys
Has anyone else been having problems with OVO. I moved across - no probs but since september there has been an issue with electricity billing and they have not taken any money. They do not know when this will be fixed.
have sent multiple emails and keep being told it is a problem they are looking into (no kidding!!) not happy with the situation at all

Just keep reading your meters to keep a check on what you are using and ensure that you save enough money to pay the bill when it finally arrives.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

there is plenty of money in there and i read meters and send the reading in each month and keep a note on my spreadsheet just not really impressed with them.0

I wasn't impressed by the fact that their site is unable to give me a sensible quote, insisting that my below national average gas usage is huge and quoting £15000 !
I rang up to tell them and ask for a quote, but the lady I spoke to said my usage must be high, as the computer said so. She gave a quote of £300+/month.
I eventually spoke to a lady online, who agreed that both situations were ridiculous and gave me a quote similar to my own calculation.
Two weeks on and their site still says my usage is too high.... so I'm going for either Sainsbury's of Co-op.0 -

If you spoke to Ovo CS and agreed projected annual consumption figures for gas and electricity, and a tariff, then Ovo would have calculated your total annual payment based on the agreed figures. That said, if you intended to switch now then Ovo would have charged you more per month to cover higher consumption during the forthcoming Winter period. This policy is stated clearly in Ovo's ts and cs, and replicated by many offer energy companies in accordance with OFGEM policy.
I should have added that Ovo make the point on their site that they can only offer lower prices because they buy energy in advance; hence, they want their customers to pay them in advance of supply.
Using my own situation as an example. I joined Ovo in April with a projected annual consumption of £840 pa which equates to a monthly payment of £70. After 6 months, I am £240 in credit which suggests to me that I will pay £600 in bills over the coming 6 months to have a zero balance in April. It follows that if I joined Ovo today then I would expect to pay £100 DD per month from now through to March, and the £70 DD per month from then on.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I'm quite aware of their policy and how they work, but their website and system insists that gas consumption of 13700 kwh is excessive and more than 73200kwh, which apparently brings in a higher standing charge.
Even the £300/month , if winter loaded, would be over three times my present consumption.0 -

It appears that the entering Kwh on the system is broken when you are entering 13700.
I got the same message then a refresh accepted 13700 no problems .0 -

Trying to help here but I am obviously failing to do so. The website allows you to enter your estimated annual consumption in kWhs for gas and electricity. (Get an Accurate Quote). I do not understand how 13700kWhs becomes 73200 kWhs which I would agree is excessive unless you live in a barn with no walls. If Ovo's 'online' chat has agreed your calculations then presumably they would take things forward?
Edit:
Just tried again and I think that I see what the problem could be. If you enter 13700 before switching from monthly to annually then the warning comes up. If the tab is turned to annual and the figure entered then everything seems to work as it should. Clearly, the 'Law of Unforeseen Consequences' has come into play. That said, it would seem that Ovo still has some work to do on its IT systems, and some additional staff training is needed. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Yes. Don't get a smart meter fitted through them.
They stop updating your account two months before the smart meter is fitted.
They then tell you that you cannot access your account at all for a further 16 weeks while they transfer the new figures to their system!
At least I have got the smart meter to tell me my usage in the iterim:mad:0 -
Hengus, I did alter the usage to 'year', before entering the figures. I just tried again, being sure to do this, with the same result.
I doesn't matter, anyway, as I have chosen the company I'm going with.0 -

Fair enough. Hopefully, Ovo CS will take note of your comments. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
