Green Deal - I'm paying more than I use!

I have recently moved from a 3 bed terraced where I was paying a total of £66 for gas and electric. I am disabled and not working so money is tight, hence I really try to be careful with my usage.
I have just moved into a 2 bed terraced where the landlord told me that due to all the recent home improvements my bills would be "much lower".
However, yesterday he informed that through the Green Deal Scheme I am to pay £99. I told him that I couldn't afford this but all he said was that I could use more energy if I wanted to! The thing is, I don't want to, I just want low bills.
Can anyone help please?
Thank you.

Are your bills included in the rent? If so, a landlord is not allowed to make profit on your consumption. If not, and the bill will be in your name you can please yourself which supplier and tariff to go on.

Hmmm - there have been a number of "Green Deals" on offer, one of which was to recover the cost of a properties insulation upgrade, with loan that is paid back via a levy on the Gas & Elect Bills.

Do you have your own meter/s and if so, have you registered with the supplier?
Or is the landlord issueing you bills that he says are based on your consumption ?
  • This is why it is so important to look at the EPC , it would have outlined these costs before you moved in.

The landlord or previous tenant has obviously had work done under green deal finance which is paid for by the savings they make.an argument that will be made is the bills are still les or the same as if the work wasn't done.

Ring 03001231234 for impartial help regarding this but I am guessing the response you will get is you should have looked at the epc.
