On friday i received a blue "court Claim form" from npower through the Northampton County court. It was coupled with one of those fake solicitor headed letters headed (which is just the collections team within npower) saying to expect the court proceedings. they claim they are charging court fees and £45 A DAY interest…

iMeasure revamp (Aug 2014)
Export your readings now! Readings input made worse. You can no longer enter a gas and electricity readig in the one go. And the submit button submits very quietly so there will be lots of rejected double submission confusion. And the basic table is as useless as ever. Can't comment on other reforms - no longer available…

Combi boiler
I live in a well insulated one bedroom upstairs flat and I had a combi boiler installed towards the end of last winter to run my central heating so I didn’t have time to work out the most economical way to use it. According to age concern the optimum temperature for someone of my age is 21c in the living room and at least…

Boiler Cover or Extended Homa and Contents?
Apologies if I've posted this in the wrong place (don't think I have) and if this question has been asked before (it almost certainly will). It's time to get the boiler insurance renewed and some people have advised me to simply extend the home and contents insurance to include "emergencies" as that will cover lots of…

British Gas Homecare 100
My Homecare 100 Boiler and Controls Cover with Annual Service Visit has come up for renewal, and I'm displeased to see they are increasing the monthly cost by about 26%. I've made no callout demands on them - never have- so I'm wondering how they can justify such a jump in price this year. Anyone else had this issue?…

Gas meter replacement
We received a letter from Meterplus (npower) on 12th August saying they were calling today (15th) to replace our gas meter. A little short notice for getting time off work but we managed! When the engineer arrived he stated he was unable to replace the meter as the existing pipes were too close together to fit the new…

Scottish hydro meter problem
Hi all, I have recently moved into a flat supplied by Scottish Hydro with payg meters, on putting credit in the gas meter I noticed that £5.64 was removed for "debt", I contacted them and was asked to provide information from the meter, when I followed the instructions the meter did not behave as described and I was unable…

Scottish Power Incompetence
I changed supplier over twelve months ago and keep getting bills including letters from debt collection agencies. I have actually received a letter of apology from their customer services (joke) with a £10 credit as a gesture. Despite e-mails, phone calls, I even spoke to someone who claimed to be a manager, but I suspect…

Can I switch from M&S Energy to SSE?
My M&S Energy fix ends at the end of September and I'm looking to switch (I'm actually happy enough with them, but want Safari Oleg cuddly toy) ... Can I switch from them to SSE, given my account login actually works on the SSE site as well. It is a suggested switch on comparethemarket. Also, when would be the earliest I…

Npower - delete credit when asked for it
Hi I continually log in to my Npower account, submit readings and pay my bill by direct debit. I pay £115 a month for gas and electric but in fairness use very little as I am away from the house a majority of the time. My account credit had built up to just under £600 and so I got in touch and said I'd like to reclaim this…

EDF took money by DD I wasn't expecting
I am in the process of switching to EDF and agreed a Direct Debit with payments going out at the end of the month starting at the end of this month. I had a notification saying payments would commence on or after 28th August. Having logged into my bank, I find the DD has already been set up and £45 taken on the13th August.…

Power
Wel, I have just switched to Co-op. tells me 270 a yr saving, will wait and see, but really do not doubt it, plus I have a Co-op membership, so I will get points/shares for that. Have thought for some time, cost to much, used moneysavingexpert site to check, was registered for updates anyway, But now £270 a year, great.…

Backdated Electricty Bill - Help
Hi guys. This is the first time I have used this, so I am sorry if this may be a repeated subject but I am desperate for some advice on my electricity companies conduct. I joined The Utility Warehouse in June 2012, providing them with meter readings when we started. My bills for the next 12 months were based on estimates…

Another 'moving house' question
We are frequently told to inform utility companies we are moving, but some of them don't seem to want advance notice. British Gas website spells it out - don't tell us until AFTER you've moved. Fine, we know where we stand. I've just been on the E-on site to tell them we're moving (completion date next week) but,…
