Switching in last few weeks of fixed contract tariff
Our energy tariff is set to expire at the end of September, and I've since received some emails from Uswitch advising of other tariffs to move on to. Something quoted on the email and their website is that a cancellation fee wouldn't be charged, as 'you are in the last few weeks of your energy tariff you can switch now…

Hi all, I've just switched energy supplier from Scottish Power to Eon. I have a prepayment meter which obviously I have to keep topped up in order to keep the lights on. Scottish Power have now contacted me claiming I owe over £200 "in debit." How can this be possible on a Pay-as-you-go tariff? Isn't the clue in the name?…

Communal Meter Cupboard
Hi, I've just moved into a rented flat and it looks as though there's a communal electricity meter. I've never rented before but it seems odd because surely I'll be paying on average for others' usage? Does anyone know how the bills are calculated, please. Is it simply an average? Do I have to let the energy company know…

How to replace electric ceiling heating in a tiny flat?
Hello, I have a small 1 bed flat (300 sq. ft./30m squared) with electric ceiling heating which I rent out. The ceiling heating seems to have stopped working - my tenants didn't mention it and bought an oil-filled radiator, but it meant that the flat got terrible condensation around the windows and doors over the winter…

NPower complaints phoning back? Let's see
When NPower closed my account 8 months ago, they provided my new suppier (Ovo) with a gas meter reading of 2800 instead of 1400. Understandably, this has meant that none of the readings I've provided to Ovo this year have been valid, because they indicate I've used negative amounts of gas, so I've been billed based on an…

On-peak and off-peak electricity meters
Hi all, I have a question regarding my electricity meters. We have two in our flat, with one being on-peak and another one off-peak according to the bills we have received. However I am not sure if that's correct - the "on-peak" meter spins all the time - never saw it standing, even as late as 2 am. The "off-peak" one on…

On npower for gas? Deal alert!
If you're on an npower gas account, it's worth checking out their new Oct 2015 Online pricefix tariff. I was on their May 2015 fix, but the new one turned out about 5% cheaper for me. Went through Quidco for £22.50 cashback for switching tariff too. Worth a check, nevertheless.
