Scottish Power - switching tariffs
Hi
Last week I logged onto SP's website and changed my tariff from Online Nov 2014 to Online Sept 2015. Since then, I've checked daily and I'm still on the old tariff.
Has anyone been through this process? Just wondering how long it takes the system to change me over?
Thanks

As the new unit rate is more expensive and the standing charge is trivially cheaper (a pound or three per year) for many customers' usages the new tariff is more expensive. As such they may by default wait until old tariff expires before switching.
If for your usage the new tariff is cheaper you may have to telephone to ask the change to be applied immediately.
(Never mind. Scrub that. Unit price difference is less than £2.50 per year so it's not that.)0 -
Logged on this morning and I see the tariff has changed! One week and one day for anyone that's thinking of doing the same.
This new tariff has cheaper units but higher standing change.
One thing I noticed on the uswitch website, was that my "savings" are based on my current tariff ending in Nov and then using the standard SP tariff for the rest of the year. My £100 saving is, in reality, more likely to be £400 -
There is a distinctly individualistic feel to how it's done.
When I switched tariff in November 2013, they simply did not produce a bill. It is, however, possible to DEDUCE a bill from the September 2013 and February 2014 bills.
Now, switching to September 2015 Fix, they simply produced a bill, nearly two months worth, all at the NEW Tariff unit rates!
I have a feeling in November 2013, somebody with GCSE Maths wanted to hide his poor maths skills by simply not handing in the homework. In July 2014, somebody with A Level maths just can't be bothered to work out a bill from the old and new rates, so just did it with the September 2015 rate.
In a sense, it's a triumph of the human labour versus computing power. If you hire somebody dumb enough, it's cheaper than doing it by computers.0
