Can I switch from M&S Energy to SSE?

My M&S Energy fix ends at the end of September and I'm looking to switch (I'm actually happy enough with them, but want Safari Oleg cuddly toy) ...

Can I switch from them to SSE, given my account login actually works on the SSE site as well. It is a suggested switch on comparethemarket.

Also, when would be the earliest I can switch in order not to be charged exit fees?

So now's potentially too early, need to wait a week or 2?
  • I'm on the same tariff, just waiting to hear from M&S about the tariff finishing. Yes, a couple of weeks too soon to switch but I've been looking. Might go for the co-op.

You can switch, but I doubt SSE will pay a switching fee to a comparison site, so no cuddly toy.

My fastest switch was 3 weeks so I wouldn't advise initiating a switch before the 10th of September if you want to guarantee no exit fees.

You would not be charged an exit fee anyway, and the supplier has to give 30 days' notice of an increase in prices and the customer can move without an exit fee once they receive this notice. However in this case it is not really a switch of supplier but a switch of tariff with the same supplier. This can be done immediately by ringing up SSE.

Meh ... applied for a new credit card to get meerkat toy.
Will just stick with M&S for now.

(My bills are *so* low it doesn't really make much difference who I'm with...)

    An update to this.

After receiving Safari Oleg meerkat through credit card, decided to try the swap from M&S to SSE energy through comparethemarket anyway to see what happened. Did it at the end of September when the old tariff ran out.

It seemed to happen instantly, no switching meter reads, and old login still works through SSE site, although no longer on M&S Energy site. Meerkat also claims to be in the post to me.

Meerkats require extra heat in cold British winters .
